Game of the Week:Boston College vs Wake Forest-Amazing game. BC looked like they could run away with it but Wake took on Chris Crane and next thing you knew BC was down. However, a last-minute drive lead the Eagles to victory.

Player of the Week:The ENTIRE Abeliene Christian Offense-Simply put when you score 93 points in a PLAYOFF game its a guaranteed winner.

Dissapointment of the Week:Maryland Terrapins-Its Senior day, you know you have the best chance to win it all, and yet you lose 37-3...wow, no wonder no one takes this team serious.

Surprise Team of the Week:Oregon State Beavers-Many people doubted them when they faced USC, many doubted them when they said they would run the table, many more doubted that they would beat Arizona, and even more arrived when Jacquizz Rodgers got injured. But the Beavers shocked the world again winning the game. Now with only Oregon left the Beavers hope to win out and get to the Rose Bowl.

Current Conference Check-Up:
ACC:
Atlantic:Maryland and Wake Forest is eliminated leaving Boston College and Florida State. The Noles have finished their ACC schedule but BC has to play Maryland on Saturday. If BC wins then they will go to the conference championship game.

Coastal:Miami and North Carolina are eliminated leaving only Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. The Yellow Jackets are done but the Hokies need to beat Virginia in order to win the conference.

Big Ten:Penn State won by beating Michigan State 49-18.

Big East:Cincy can clinch it Saturday by beating Syracuse. However, a loss and two WVU wins against Pitt and USF will give the Mountaineers the conference.

Big XII:
North:Missouri has already won

South:If Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State then you would think that they would jump Texas. However, a loss by OU and suddenly Texas Tech is back in. However, the Red Raiders need to beat Baylor to stay alive. For Texas they need both to lose or have both win and be voted ahead of both in the BCS standings.

C-USA:
East:East Carolina has already clinched it

West:If Houston beats Rice then they clinch it. However, shall Houston lose then Tulsa clinches it.

MAC:
East:Buffalo has already clinched it.

West:Ball State clinched it after beating Western Michigan.

Mountain West:Utah clinched it by beating BYU 48-24.

Pac 10:If Oregon State wins they clinch it. However, if Oregon State loses to Oregon then USC would get it UNLESS the Trojans lose to UCLA on December 6th. Oregon could clinch it with a win over Oregon State and a USC loss to UCLA pending on how the Pac 10 Committee determines it.

SEC:
East:Florida has already clinched it.

West:Alabama has already clinched it.

Sun Belt:If Arkansas State beats North Texas then they will play Troy on December 6th for the Conference Championship.

WAC:Boise State clinched it after beating Nevada on Saturday.

Thats all for now we'll see you next week and enjoy Thanksgiving 2008.

College Football Review:Week 12

Their was no Week 11 review due to lack of time so I bring you Week 12

Game of the Week:North Carolina vs Maryland-I think I have a new record for most heart attacks during a game. This was not a game, it was a battle between two teams determined to win their conference. This had the old "Maryland 3:30pm" game feel to it(basically a big game thats played a 3:30, I had so many of these during the good years of '01-'04). Just like the classic ones this came down to a field goal as the Terps upset the Heels 17-15.

Player of the Week:Case Keenum(Houston)-I guess the Run and Shoot isn't dead at UH as the Star QB lead the Cougars to a 70-30 upset blowout win of once-great Tulsa...my how times have changed.

Dissapointment of the Week:LSU Tigers-Truth be told, they did beat Troy, but to trailn 31-3 at home against a Sun Belt team is redicolos especially after the game with Bama last week.

Surprise of the Week:Rutgers Scarlet Knights-They should be Surprise Team of the Month really. Rutgers has came on late in the season after starting 1-5 and their 49-16 win over USF shows it.

Numbers:
50-The largest margin of defeat in Steve Spurrier's coaching career as Florida killed South Carolina 56-6.

38
-The amount of points unanswered scored by LSU as they trailed Troy 31-3 and rallied to win 40-31.

1984-The last time Vanderbilt went to a bowl game before grabbing a bowl bid following a 31-24 win over Kentucky.

8-The most losses in the history of Michigan football.

The National Title Chase Update:
Alabama beat out Mississippi State 32-7 to stay unbeaten, the Tide will play Auburn in 2 weeks at home then the SEC Title. Texas stayed alive beating Kansas 35-7. Florida keeps prooving its legitimacy by demolishing South Carolina 56-6. USC trailed Stanford in the first half 17-10 but rallied to win 45-23. Penn State beat Indiana 34-7 and they'll finish the season against Michigan State next week.

Texas Tech and Oklahoma WILL PLAY next week in Norman. If Tech wins they need to only beat Baylor and Missouri in order to get to the National Title Game.

The Heisman Hunt:
My Top 5 Contenders:
1.Graham Harrell-QB(Texas Tech)
2.Colt McCoy-QB(Texas)
3.Sam Bradford-QB(Oklahoma)
4.Tim Tebow-QB(Florida)
5.Michael Crabtree-WR(Texas Tech)

The Mid-Major National Title Update:
Utah Utes(11-0)-Utah demolished San Diego State and can win the Mountain West if they beat BYU on Saturday.

Boise State Broncos(10-0)-The Broncs gave it to Idaho this week but still have to face Fresno State and Nevada in two tough games.

Ball State Cardinals(10-0)-The Cards continued their weeknight trip by beating Miami this week. However, Central Michigan is one tough cookie.

BYU(10-1)-The Cougs knocked off Air Force to stay alive in the Mountain West hunt and Mid-Major National Title race.

The Mid-10 Rankings:
1.Utah 11-0(Mountain West)
2.Boise State 10-0(WAC)
3.Ball State 10-0(MAC)
4.BYU 10-1(Mountain West)
5.Central Michigan 8-2(MAC)
6.Western Michigan 9-2(MAC)
7.TCU 9-2(Mountain West)
8.Tulsa 8-2(Conference USA)
9.Air Force 8-3(Mountain West)
10.Rice 7-3(Conference USA)

The FCS Title Hunt:
Big Sky:Weber State has clinched the conference following their 59-27 win over Idaho State. So look for the Wildcats to enter the tourney.

CAA:New Hampshire and Maine play this week to determine the North Division champion and who will face James Madison for the conference championship.

MEAC:South Carolina State has clinched the conference.

MVC:Southern Illinois can clinch it this week with a win over Illinois State. However, if they fall then Northern Iowa will win it.

OVC:Tennessee-Martin and Eastern Kentucky play this week to determine the conference champion.

Patriot League:Holy Cross and Colgate will play this week for the conference championship.

Southern Conference:Appalachian State has won the conference beating Elon 24-16.

Southland:Central Arkansas will face McNeese State for the conference championship.

The Ivy League:All Brown has to do is beat Columbia and they shall win the conference. If not, then the winner of Harvard and Yale will be crowned conference champion.

SWAC:Grambling State remains unbeaten in conference play and a win over Texas Southern and Southern will win the conference. Look for the game against Southern as the won that determines the conference champion.

Division II Playoff Update:
The Division II playoffs kicked off this week and here are the results:
West Chester 52 Southern Connecticut State 32
Ashland 27 Minnesota State 16
Seton Hill 14 American International 7
Tusculum 34 Albany State 22

Next Week's Games:
Ashland vs Grand Valley State
Chadron State vs Minnesota-Duluth
Pittsburg State vs Northwest Missouri State
West Texas A&M vs Abeleine Christian
West Chester vs Bloomsburg
Tusculum vs Delta State
Valdosta State vs North Alabama
Seton Hill College vs California(PA)

What 2 Watch 4:
Ball State vs Central Michigan-Another good weeknight game as Ball State faces its last true test before the MAC Title Game as they take on Central Michigan. The Cardinals are on upset alert. Can CMU knock off the Cards or will Nate Davis and Co. continue running? Find out Wednesday at 7pm on ESPN2.

Texas Tech vs Oklahoma-If Texas Tech wins this then they're damn near guarenteed to win the Big XII South and head to the Big XII Title Game. However, the Sooners remember last year and look to spoil that and cause chaos in the BCS. Who will win? Find out Saturday at 8pm on ABC.

BYU vs Utah-The Mountain West is on the line in the "Holy War" as the Utes take on the Cougs. If Utah wins then they will clinch the Mountain West and possibly a BCS birth. Can the Utes pull it off? Find out Saturday at 6pm on The Mountain(Channel 616 Direct TV).

Michigan State vs Penn State-Its Senior Day in Happy Valley and the Lions look to win the Big Ten, and earn a spot in the Rose Bowl. However, Michigan State is just as determined to win it and could with an Ohio State loss. Can MSU upset PSU? Find out Saturday at 3:30pm on ABC/ESPN2(Check your local listings).

Florida State vs Maryland-The ACC Atlantic is on the line as the Noles take on the Terps in College Park. If BC loses then either FSU or Maryland can win the ACC Atlantic by 10:30pm. Can the Noles and Rhodes Scholar Myron Rolle beat Maryland or will Christmas come early in College Park? Find out Saturday at 7:45pm on ESPN.

Ole Miss vs LSU-Last year Houston Nutt took a heavily-underdogged Arkansas team to Death Valley and beat the Tigers. This year Ole Miss wants to knock off LSU. Can the Rebels do it or will the Tigers survive another one? Find out Saturday at 3:30pm on CBS.

Pitt vs Cincinnati-The Big East is on the line here as Cincy looks to win it against Pitt. However, Pitt has been a road team all year beating USF and Notre Dame on the road. Something has got to give. Who will win the Big East? Find out Saturday at 7pm on ESPN2.

Boston College vs Wake Forest-Wake lost to NC State but can clinch the Atlantic with a win here and a Maryland loss. BC, however, would like to avenge the loss to Wake two years ago and return to the ACC Title Game. Will BC "get back" or will Wake win it again? Find out Saturday at 3:30pm on ABC/ESPN2(check your local listings).

Miami vs Georgia Tech-If you think the Atlantic is crazy then look at the Coastal. For the Canes they want to win their first conference title in 5 years. However, Paul Johnson and Georgia Tech has other things on their minds. Can the Canes go to Atlanta and upset Tech or will the Jackets come closer to winning the Coastal? Find out Thursday at 7:30pm on ESPN.

West Virginia vs Louisville-For the previous 3 years, this game has determined the Big East Champion...not this year but Louisville still hopes to get a bowl bid and end WVU's chances for the Big East title. Can Louisville repeat the magic of '06 or will the 'eers come closer to another Big East crown? Find out Saturday at 12pm on ESPN.

UCONN vs USF-Another marquee Big East matchup as the Huskies look to continue chasing the Big East crown. However, USF is angry and looks to crush the Huskies dreams. Can the Husks go into Tampa and win or will USF have another magic night? Find out Sunday at 8pm on ESPN.

Overall, an ok week of College Football. There was no "big time" matchups but the games were still entertaining. Next Saturday looks to be amazing though and it all starts with Central Michigan and Ball State on Wednesday. See you next week.

NFL Mid-Season Check Up

The 2008 NFL season is halfway done so lets take a glance at what the season looks like:

The Contenders:
Tennessee Titans-The Titans are 8-0, I am shocked. This is a very good football team that is modeled like the '85 Bears with a strong tough defense and a good run game. Chris Johnson and LenDale White might is a lethal 1-2 punch simular to how White and another speed back Reggie Bush was utilized at USC. The next few weeks will be tough for the Titans as they have to go to Chicago, Jacksonville, and Indianapolis. I see Tennessee finishing on top of the AFC.

New York Giants-Eli Manning is playing at his best, the run game is solid, and the defense is just as good as last year. Overall the New York Giants, in my opinion is the best team in the NFC. I see NYG staying solid and on top of the NFC.

Pittsburgh Steelers-The Steelmen have been doing quite well this season albeit struggling against NFC East teams(with the exception of Washington). Outside of Baltimore I feel Pittsburgh will easily win the AFC North.

Carolina Panthers-This is a team forgotten about. Not too many people think that they're deserving of it all. I feel with Jonathan Stewart, DeAngelo Hall, Jake Delhomme, and Steve Smith on offense and a very physical defense that the Carolina Panthers are back to 2003 form.

Washington Redskins-This is probably the best Redskin squad I've ever seen and the most dangerous. They have a fantastic run game and a good QB. The defense pretty much beat up Big Ben and the Steelers last night. However, I feel that they're more of a wildcard team.

Arizona Cardinals-The Cards seem to be finally turning it on behind the arm of Kurt Warner and the dawning of Tim Hightower. The defense is trying to improve but isn't quite there yet and no defense has shut them down so far. Look for the Cards to win the west.

The Deadsetters:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers-The Bucs are 6-2 but I feel its a weak 6-2. We'll learn more about them as the season keeps going.

Baltimore Ravens-The Ravs have looked good in some games and bad in others. Its clear the John Harbaugh has changed this team and improved them drastically. Joe Flacco is probably the best QB(outside of McNair) since Trent Dilfer in 2000. Overall I feel they can make the playoffs but they must demonstrate it full time.

Buffalo Bills-If this was 2 weeks ago they'd be in another category. However, following a 41-17 beatdown against Arizona and a loss to the Jets I feel this team is slipping. They could make it but at the same time they could crumble quick.

Chicago Bears-They're much better than expected but in all sincerity, with Kyle Orton out for a month 5-3 can turn into 5-7 fast. However, Sexy Rexy is a proven Super Bowl QB so lets see what he can do.

New York Jets-The Jets seemed like they were ready to take over the AFC East but they haven't been the 7-1 juggernaut that they've been saying. However, I feel the schedule is favorable with the Rams, Broncos, 49ers, Bills, and Seahawks coming up the Jets will finish strong.

Philadelphia Eagles-They were my dark horse in the NFC at the beginning of the year and they're still looking good but overall they need to recapture the NFC East from the Giants and Redskins...no easy task.

New England Patriots-Despite the loss of Tom Brady they're still winning the AFC East. However, the schedule has its difficult spots due to the fact they have to go to Miami, Buffalo(once at home), and face the Jets again.

Atlanta Falcons-They've been quite the surprise. All you had to do was replace Joey Harrington, Byron Leftwich, Warrick Dunn, and Bobby Petrino with Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, and Mike Smith and boom a winner.

Dallas Cowboys-The Tony Romo effect is in full force. Dallas is 1-2 since Romo left and they should've probably haven't won the one game. Romo should be back next week but if this gets worse and he isn't back by Thanksgiving expect them to be eliminated. Truth be told, however, even with Romo it wasn't working.

Indianapolis Colts-Peyton Manning and company have not seen anything this bad since Jim Mora was coaching. The team is getting up their in age and for this group it'll probably be their last chance to win the Super Bowl. However, there is something called the Titans in the way.

Minnesota Vikings-Gus Freorotte has somewhat fixed the team but he really hasn't been much of an impact let alone a star QB. This team is like the Titans with a tough run game and good defense. Even though Tennessee beat them in Week 4 a rematch would be interesting.

Miami Dolphins-Tony Sparano, Chad Pennington, and Bill Parcells has changed the culture of Miami. Last year they were 1-15 now they're 4-4. Truth be told they can still make the playoffs and they're a good football team especially with the re-emergence of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.

Green Bay Packers-Yes this isn't the good '07 squad but this team may be just as good contrary to what the record says. Aaron Rodgers is a good QB just as I said in 2005. If anything Green Bay I think will win the NFC North and return to the playoffs.

New Orleans Saints-This team should be better than 4-4 they should be at least 6-2 but theirs been some crucial mistakes. Like the recent bust of illegal substances. Hard to tell how much that will affect the team.

Denver Broncos-Ok that was a quick fall. Denver in the first 3 weeks looked like the team in the AFC now they're 4-4. Will they keep falling or be back on top?

San Diego Chargers-Its been rough for San Diego first Merriman gets hurt then they lose at the last seconds to Carolina and Denver and now they're 3-5. Somewhere Marty Schottenheimer is laughing.

Cleveland Browns-Usually any kind of change is bad especially during the season(or at least middle) but maybe the switch from Derek Anderson to Brady Quinn will save this team...maybe.

Jacksonville Jaguars-NO ONE expected this. I had Jacksonville as the best team in the AFC prior to the season. Now...not so much.

Houston Texans-I think the Matt Schuab experiment is over. Like I said I hate midseason changes but maybe Sage Rosenfels can save them...or not.

Eliminated(at least I think so)
  • Oakland Raiders
  • St.Louis Rams
  • Seattle Seahawks
  • San Francisco 49ers
  • Kansas City Chiefs
  • Oakland Raiders
  • Detroit Lions
League Leaders:
Best QB Rating:Philip Rivers(San Diego Chargers)-Quite the surprise that the only one playing well is the QB. I think Philip has shown the potential I talked about when he was at N.C. State.

Rushing Yards:Clinton Portis(Washington Redskins)-Portis has not been this good since 2003 when he was with Denver. He is the work horse for this team and he will continue it.

Receiving Yards:Andre Johnson(Houston Texans)-Andre has been the only light for the Texans in their dark history. He is one of the best receivers in the league. If he only had a legit QB.

Tackles:D.J. Williams(Denver Broncos) and D'Qwell Jackson(Cleveland Browns)-Just to see how many tackles each will get on Thursday makes the Broncos/Browns match worth watching.

Sacks:Joey Porter(Miami Dolphins)-Truth be told could you imagine if he was still at Pittsburgh? No one would be able to run on them. Porter is THAT good.

This is going to be a doozy...

Interceptions:Nick Collins(Green Bay Packers), Charles Woodson(Green Bay Packers), Cort Finnegan(Tennessee Titans), O.J. Atogwe(St.Louis Rams), Darrelle Revis(New York Jets), Michael Griffen(Tennessee Titans)-Yeah thats enough writing.

Most Touchdowns:LenDale White(Tennessee Titans)-The big man has 10 touchdowns this season all rushing.

Most Points:David Akers(Philadelphia Eagles)-The Eagles long time kicker has been kickin his way through special teams.

Most Yards of Total Offense:New Orleans Saints

Most Rushing Yards:Atlanta Falcons

Most Passing Yards:New Orleans Saints

Most Points:Arizona Cardinals

Least Yards Surrendered:Pittsburgh Steelers

Least Rushing Yards Surrendered:Baltimore Ravens

Least Passing Yards Surrendered:Pittsburgh Steelers

Least Points Surrendered:Tennessee Titans

Now and Then:My Predictions August 2008 vs the Current NFL:
August 2008:
NFC East:Philadelphia Eagles
NFC North:Detroit Lions
NFC South:Carolina Panthers
NFC West:St.Louis Rams
Wildcard 1:Dallas Cowboys
Wildcard 2:Tampa Bay Buccaneers

AFC East:New England Patriots
AFC North:Pittsburgh Steelers
AFC South:Jacksonville Jaguars
AFC West:San Diego Chargers
Wildcard 1:Houston Texans
Wildcard 2:Indianapolis Colts

As of November 4, 2008:
NFC East:New York Giants
NFC North:Chicago Bears
NFC South:Carolina Panthers
NFC West:Arizona Cardinals
Wildcard 1:Washington Redskins
Wildcard 2:Tampa Bay Buccaneers

AFC East:New England Patriots
AFC North:Pittsburgh Steelers
AFC South:Tennessee Titans
AFC West:Denver Broncos
Wildcard 1:New York Jets
Wildcard 2:Buffalo Bills

Analysis:Wow I am dead wrong so far on the NFC as the only division winner that has panned out is Carolina. Wildcard wise though Tampa Bay seems to be getting their. I felt the NFC West would not be as advertised on terms of every team(except the Rams) so far Arizona has came out looking damn good. I didn't expect Detroit to have a winning record(I so them as 7-9 in a weak division)so if anyone wants to try to figure out that one theres my answer.

The AFC predictions have somewhat panned out. I got half the division winners correct but wildcard is dead wrong. However, I feel my original scenario can still happen(albeit without Houston and Jacksonville who I had TONS of faith in going into the season).

My Predictions from November 4, 2008 until December 28th.

AFC:
East:New York Jets
North:Pittsburgh Steelers
South:Tennessee Titans
West:San Diego Chargers
Wildcard 1:Baltimore Ravens
Wildcard 2:Miami Dolphins

NFC:
East:Washington Redskins
North:Minnesota Vikings
South:Tampa Bay Buccaneers
West:Arizona Cardinals
Wildcard 1:New York Giants
Wildcard 2:Carolina Panthers

AFC Playoff Standings:
1.Tennessee Titans
2.Pittsburgh Steelers
3.New York Jets
4.San Diego Chargers
5.Baltimore Ravens
6.Miami Dolphins

NFC Playoff Standings:
1.Washington Redskins
2.Tampa Bay Buccaneers
3.Arizona Cardinals
4.Minnesota Vikings
5.New York Giants

College Football Review:Week 10

There is a new Number 1 in College Football and I am sick and tired of Sunday night games. Lets get it rolling.

Game of the Week:Texas vs Texas Tech-As Ron Simmons would say, "DAMN". This was a great game without a doubt. On one end of the spectrum you have Texas who had just beaten Oklahoma, Missouri, and Oklahoma State in consecutive weeks on the other you have a Texas Tech team ready to break on through to the other side. Texas Tech dominated the Longhorns early leading 19-0 but the Horns rallied back to take a 33-32 lead with 1:29 to go. It was a big mistake as the Red Raiders drove down field and with 1 second to spare Graham Harrell hit Michael Crabtree for the game winning touchdown. For the 2nd year in the row Lubbock was a big party. Tech has finally impressed me.

Player of the Week:Oklahoma's offense-Usually this only goes to 1 player but in this case you have to award the entire Sooner offense. Oklahoma came out on Saturday night and scored 28 points in the first 5 minutes of the game. Nebraska was just beaten as OU led 35-0 in the 1st quarter. Truth be told if OU scored like they did in the first five minutes this could've easily been 336-0. Is Bill Callahan still at NU?

Dissapointment of the Week:Georgia Bulldogs-At 3:30pm on Saturday the Georgia Bulldogs came onto the field at Alltell Stadium with the notion that if they win they could head to Atlanta the next month for the SEC Title game and possibly Miami the following month for the National Championship game. By 6:30pm the dream was over as Florida demolished Matt Stafford and Knoshown Mareno en route to a 49-10 beatdown. You'd think after the Bama game they'd hit reality but once again Florida brings them down to earth.

Surprise Team of the Week:Arkansas Razorbacks-Bobby Petrino may have turned a corner with this team as the Hogs beat undefeated Tulsa 30-23 on Saturday. Its not last year when Houston Nutt, Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, and Co. beat LSU in Baton Rouge but it felt like it. Maybe just maybe this team will succeed.

Numbers:
58.8-Colt McCoy's completion percentage in the Longhorn's loss to the Red Raiders on Saturday. His lowest all year.

35-The amount of points Oklahoma scored in the 1st Quarter in their 62-28 beatdown of Nebraska.

5-The amount of games where Graham Harrell has thrown more than 400 passing yards.

1975-The last time that Georgia Tech had beaten Florida State prior to their 31-28 victory over the Noles.

2007-The year most Razorback fans felt it was during their 30-23 win over Tulsa.

23-The amount of points Arkansas gave up against Tulsa. It was the lowest amount of points that the Hurricanes had all year.

440-The amount of total offense by Armanti Edwards in Appalachian State's 70-24 win over the Terriers, who a year earlier beat App State. Think of it this way...Armanti Edwards had more yards alone than South Carolina did as a team when they played Wofford.

The Contenders:
Penn State-The Nittany Lions were off this week but will return next week to play Iowa.

Texas Tech-It took them 2 months but they finally convinced me. Yes the Red Raiders are real. They throw the ball well and have a halfway decent run game being established and their defense has shut down both Colt McCoy and Todd Reesing.

The Deadsetters:
Oklahoma-The Sooners just killed Nebraska. They just flat out killed them. This game was over the minute it started. Oklahoma was up 28-0 with 10 minutes left in the 1st QUARTER. Bo Pelini wishes he was still in Baton Rouge.

USC-Once again the Trojans kill a Pac 10 team this time it was Washington. Fun Fact:USC has beaten both Washington schools by a total of 125-0.

Florida-Wow simply put wow. Florida went out there on Saturday and just beatdown Georgia. Hell UGA didn't score a touchdown until garbage time. This could've been 49-0 easily.

Oklahoma State-The Cowboys keep riding high this time they defeated Iowa State. With Texas falling and Texas Tech and Oklahoma coming up, the Cowboys hope to get back into the Big XII South race and National Title hunt.

The Unknown:
Alabama-Still not seeing it yet. I feel that while Bama has no competition from here til December 6th I think they may slip against LSU if not that then December 6th against(most likely) Florida will end the Tide's run.

Eliminated From Contention:
Georgia-Great Expectations isn't just a novel its the story of the Georgia Bulldogs every season and like in the book theres a sad ending.

Florida State-Gotta hand it to the Noles they fought hard to the bitter end against Georgia Tech but once again they're eliminated. However, keep an eye out for this team in the next few years.

The Heisman Hunt:
My Top 5 Heisman Contenders:
1.Graham Harrell-QB(Texas Tech)
2.Colt McCoy-QB(Texas)
3.Sam Bradford-QB(Oklahoma)
4.Javon Ringer-RB(Michigan State)
5.Michael Crabtree-WR(Texas Tech)

The Mid-Major National Title Update:
Contenders:
Utah Utes(9-0)-The Utes almost slipped to New Mexico on Saturday. If they're not careful then TCU could sneak up on them on Thursday. Just ask BYU.

Boise State Broncos(8-0)-The Broncs took it to the other New Mexico school by knocking off State 49-0.

Ball State Cardinals(8-0)-The Cards have a tough one on Wednesday against Northern Illinois so lets see if the Cards can make it.

Still Alive(At the Moment):
BYU Cougars(8-1)-The Cougs had a war with Colorado State on Saturday and barely got out of it.

TCU Horned Frogs(9-1)-The Frogs came out on Saturday and demolished UNLV. Now on Thursday the Frogs have the opportunity to clinch the Mountain West. But Air Force will be breathing down their neck until November 22nd.

Tulsa Golden Hurricanes(8-1)-Sometimes overconfidence kills. This is the case for Tulsa as Arkansas came ready to play and they beat the Canes. However, they are not out yet.

The Mid-10 Rankings:
1.Utah 9-0(Mountain West)
2.Boise State 8-0(WAC)
3.Ball State 8-0(MAC)
4.TCU 9-1(Mountain West)
5.BYU 8-1(Mountain West)
6.Tulsa 8-1(C-USA)
7.Central Michigan 7-2(MAC)
8.Air Force 7-2(Mountain West)
9.Western Michigan 7-2(MAC)
10.San Jose State 6-3(WAC)

The FCS Championship Hunt:
Background:The FCS(or Football Championship Subdivision or Division I-AA) is the 2nd level of College Football. This is for schools that have an enrollment between 1,000 to 15,000 people. In 1973, the NCAA declared a seperation in divisions due to distance is finances and enrollment thus creating Division I and Division II. By 1978, however, it prooved to not be enough and so I and II were split into I-A, I-AA, II, and III. In 2006, in order to gain more credibility, the NCAA renamed I-AA the FCS(Football Championship Subdivision.

Unlike the FBS(Football Bowl Subdivision or I-A) the FCS has a 16-team playoff. However, most conferences in FCS decline to participate(The Ivy League, the Pioneer Football League, and Northeast Conference) while the SWAC conference isn't allowed(for their championship is played on Thanksgiving weekend). However, all teams remain eligible if they have 7 or more wins. For the SWAC, however, you can not win the conference(or even participate in the championship game) and still make the playoffs. However, the SWAC never usually accepts the bid(the last team from the conference to go to the playoffs was Jackson State in 1997 and the conference is 0-19 all-time in the playoffs.

Also ineligible for the playoffs are teams transitioning from a lower division(Division II or III) into the FCS until they're a member for 2 seasons. The only team that has been highly ranked and excluded was #3 North Dakota State in 2006(who are eligible this year). The list of conferences whose winners are automatically in are:Big Sky, CAA, MEAC, Missouri Valley, Ohio Valley, Patriot League, Southern, and Southland. Other conferences are included by invite only such as the Big South(albeit automatic in 2010), teams that are not sponsored by conference, Great West, Northeast(albeit automatic in 2010), and the Pioneer Football League. Here is the I-AA update.

Big Sky:Weber State has all but clinched the conference as they sit at 6-0 in conference going into Saturday's game with Idaho State. A win over ISU and the Cats will make the playoffs. This team isn't too bad either as they lost to Hawaii on the road and held Utah in check until halftime.

CAA:This is an interesting month in the conference as this week, New Hampshire of the North faces Villanova of the South. In what will be an elimination game, UMass will face Maine. Next week may determine the division winner with UMass facing New Hampshire. In the South, James Madison could clinch the division with a Villanova loss and a win over William & Mary next week.

MEAC:South Carolina State escaped Delaware State to stay undefeated in the division and get a breather against Howard this week. However, next week will be the one to determine the conference when they play Morgan State.

MVC:Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, and South Dakota State are battling for this division at the moment. Head-to-Head, NIU beat SDST but lost to Southern Ill. This week they take on Missouri State. Southern Illinois plays Western Illinois in what will possibly determine if the Siloukis stay alive in the title hunt before facing South Dakota State next week. As for the Jackrabbits they will face Illinois State this week.

Ohio Valley:Tennessee-Martin, Eastern Kentucky, and Tennessee State are battling up top in that conference while Ryan Perrilioux and Jacksonville State look up at them. TSU already beat UTM and EKU. If they can beat Eastern Illinois, Jacksonville State, and Murray State then they will win the conference.

Patriot League:Colgate and Holy Cross are duking it out for the title and will square off on November 22nd. Until then the 'Gate will play Lehigh while Holy Cross gets Fordham and Lafeyette. Lets not forget Lafeyette and Lehigh, however. If these two can beat the Cross and the Gate they will be battling for the conference on the 22nd also. Keep an eye on these four.

Southern Conference:Appalachian State has already taken care of Wofford and now its Chattonoga this week and Elon next week. If Appy State can take care of these two they should win the conference by next week.

Southland Conference:Central Arkansas lost its first game in conference against Nicholls State and now find themselves tied with Northwestern State for first place. Meanwhile McNeese State, Texas State, Stephen F. Austin, and Nicholls State keep breathing down their neck. We'll see how it goes in the next few weeks.

The Ivy League:Brown defeated Pennsylvania to take 1st place in the Conference. This week they get Yale. If they can win out then the Bears will be looking at the championship. Expect Brown to clinch it next week with a win over Dartmouth.

SWAC:Jackson State and Alabama A&M will square off next week in what may be the determining factor in the East. However, they must take on Alabama State and Prairie View A&M respectively. Grambling State has pretty much clinched the West for the only team close to them is Prairie View A&M and they have already demolished them. However, November 29th against Southern will be a tough one and may determine who wins the West.
